Discover the Port Macquarie Region
Where in the world is Port Macquarie?
Port Macquarie sits pretty on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, tucked between the mighty Hastings River and the magnificent Pacific Ocean. It’s roughly midway up the NSW coast, a comfortable 4.5 hour drive north of Sydney and 5 hours south of Brisbane, which makes it a favourite for east coast road trips and long weekend escapes.
The township itself is buzzing, walkable, waterside, and easy to love. Think golden beaches, a glorious nine kilometre Coastal Walk, a waterfront dining scene, and a hinterland full of wineries, rainforest and country charm just a short drive inland. Whether you are here for the surf, the food, the koalas or the slower pace, the region packs a lot into a small footprint.
The greater region is expansive, covering nearly 3,500 square kilometers of coastline, National Parks, State Forests and small villages. To the south, you’ll find the coastal, uncrowded beauty of the Camden Haven and Diamond Head, and to the west, the country charm of Wauchope, the Hastings Valley, and the Comboyne Plateau. These hidden gems are well worth a day trip (and you may well want to stay for longer).
