DISCOVER OUR WATERWAYS

Greater Port Macquarie offers wonderful inland waterways with the Hastings, Maria, Wilson and Camden Haven Rivers, Lake Cathie and three lakes at Laurieton - Stingray Creek, Queens Lake and Watson Taylor Lake.

Activities are only limited by your imagination, with a great choice of professional river and ocean cruise specialists where you can take in the scenery, watch the dolphins play or be taken to where the fish are guaranteed to be biting.

Avid anglers will be in paradise as they hunt their favourite species from one of the many fishing spots along the rivers, lakes, beaches, and breakwalls. Local fishing and boating centres scattered around the area are always happy to give a few tips about what's biting, as well as being able to cater to all your bait and tackle needs.

Beach fishing is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Rocky Beach, Lighthouse Beach, Rainbow Beach and Grants Beach are all popular spots. If you want somewhere to get your 4WD dirty, try North Beach, Lighthouse Beach, Rainbow Beach, Grants Beach or Dunbogan Beach all of which have a 4WD entrance. A licence is required for recreational fishing (service.nsw.gov.au) and you also require a permit to drive on the approved 4WD beaches. Beach driving permits are available from the Visitor Information Centre located at the Glasshouse, Cnr of Clarence & Hay Streets.
